FIRE FACTS Can't Cool the Fires! On Saturday, January 30 and Sunday, January 31 the Quad City Jr. Flames continued their winning ways after back to back games against Chicago. In Saturday's 6-5 shoot out victory Quad City found themselves trailing four seperate times, and during Sunday's 7-5 final they were playing from behind on two occosions. Quad City finished 10-1-0-0 in January, and extended their streak to 10 straight games. Both stats are Jr. A records for Quad City. The Iowa City Extravaganza Iowa City natives Keegan Kavanaugh and Andy Amendola continued their point streaks this past weekend. Both streaks now reach eight consecutive games. Amendola finished the weekend with five points (4g,1a) and Kavanaugh with three (1g2a). Chad Hickson, originally from Iowa, claimed four points (2g,2a) after scoring the game winner Saturday in the ninth shoot out round. Line 1 This weekend the Flames top line consisting of Amendola, Kavanaugh, and Hickson combined for 13 points (7g,6a) in two games. Amendola scored three game tying goals while Hickson scored the game winner in Saturday night's contest. Out of the Funk Conrad Bernard snapped a six game goal less streak in Saturday's 6-5 victory. Bernard's goal was a redirection off a hard pass from the boards that came from Luke Dannenberg. Bernard's marker was the first of four Quad City tying goals. Goaltending David Jacobson has victories in his past eight starts. This past weekend Jacobson notched his 17 and 18 wins of the campaign. He is second in league wins, first in minutes play, and number one in league saves. Final Road Stretch This weekend will mark the final road stretch for Quad City. The four game stretch includes two games in Cleveland as well as Chicago. SCOUTING REPORT Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks (30-7-0-1) The Jr. Lumberjacks are currently sitting in the second position a top the CSHL standings. Cleveland hasn't dropped a game in regulation since Monday, December 21 at the Quad City Sports Center during the CSHL Showcase. The loss was to St. Louis by a final of 5-3. Since the December loss Cleveland has only dropped one game to Pittsburgh after a 5-4 shoot out decision. Cleveland finished January with a record of 7-0-0-1. Cleveland is 2-0 versus Quad City this season. The only two contests were played at the Quad City Sports Center during the CSHL Showcase. Cleveland beat Quad City by finals of 6-5 and 6-3. Leading the Lumberjacks in scoring is Matthew Zaremba with 64 points (23g,41a). Behind Zaremba is Joseph Sposit with 51 points (28g,31a). Both Cleveland forwards are on eight game point streaks. Sunday, March 7, Parents'/Family Day Dubuque vs. Quad City 12:00 pm ct The Quad City Junior hockey organiztion will be dedicating Sunday, March 7 to all of the Flames parents and housing families at the Quad City Sports Center. Immediately before the game the Jr. Flames will recognize all the parents and housing families. Flames parents and families are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game time.
