Flames PressDate: Feb 07, 2010 Flames Burn Cleveland 4-2
On Sunday, February 7 the Quad City Jr. Flames (22-17-0-3) took to the ice against the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks (31-8-0-1). Quad City bounced back from the loss the night before to take a well earned 4-2 victory, and their 11 win in 12 games. R.J. Rick gave the Flames an early lead at 1:16 of the opening period. Jerry Rank fired a low shot from the left point, and Rick tipped it past Kevin Figueria for his 17th of the season. Conrad Bernard added the secondary assist. Quad City waited until the second period to add to their lead on the power play at 4:29. Scott Eberline caught a pass from Keegan Kavanaugh in neutral ice, and carried it over the blue line. Eberline's wrister from between the circle made the game 2-0. Josh Prygon extended the Quad City lead to 3-0 in the second period at 19:25. After Andy Amendola dropped the puck to Prygon low in the far circle the Flames forward pulled the trigger. Puck beat Figueria five-hole. After two period of looking for their offensive touch Cleveland finally tallied in the final frame at 5:59. Joseph Sposit hammered a puck in to the top corner of the Flames net from the slot. Vincent Buttitta and Daniel Sayer added the helpers. Quad City answered quickly. At 7:13 R.J. Rick found the back of the net for the second time. Rick's goal took the Flames up 4-2. Kyle Vesling and Paul Manderfield marked the assists. After heading to a power play, Cleveland managed to pull within two for the second time of the game. At 18:54 Vincent Buttitta stuffed the puck in from the goal line for his 15th of the season. Brandon Bayer and Daniel Sayer helped with the power play assists. The Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks did not attempt to pull their goaltender in the last minute, and the Flames scored their 11th win in 12 games. Scoring Summary: 1st Period: 1. QC - R.J.
