Quad City Claims 8th Straight

On Sunday, January 24 the Quad City Jr. Flames (19-16-0-3) played on home ice at the Quad City Sports Center for the first time in four games. The Flint Jr. Generals (13-25-1-0) traveled to town for their final game of a three game weekend. Quad City ended the afternoon with a 7-2 win, and their eighth straight.

R.J. Rick opened the offense at 5:24 of the first period with his twelfth from Josh Prygon. Just over two minutes later at 7:38 Andy Amendola added the second goal of the game from Jerry Rank and Paul Manderfield. Amendola's 20th goal on the season made the game 2-0. The Flames offense wasn't done. At 9:08 Rick scored again on a power play from Paul Manderfield and Scott Eberline. The Generals managed to mark their first goal at 12:41 on a power play. Drew Meyers slid the puck in to the Flames net for this 24th goal of the year with assists from Nathan Scurfield and Ryan Eby. The Generals pulled within one at 19:05 on another power play. Jacob Harlick netted his sixth goal of the season from Benjamin McParlan and Trevor Troupe.

Quad City out shot Fint 14-10 in the first. Quad City finished the period 1-1 on the man advantage while Flint went 2-3.

In the second, R.J. Rick opened scoring just as he did in the first period. At 2:01 Rickscored his fourteenth goal of the season, third of the game, and earned a hat-trick. Scott Eberline and Kyle Vesling had the helpers on Rick's thrid goal of the game. Quad City made the game 5-2 at 7:17. Andy Amendola nailed this 21st of the season and second of the game from Scott Eberline and Paul Manderfield on the power play.

The Flames out shot the Generals in the second 16-10. Quad City finished 1-4 on the power play, and Flint ended 0-2.

Quad City continued offensively during the third period at 4:41. Andy Amendola scored a short handed goal, and a hat-trick. Amendola's goal was unassisted, and gave Quad City a 6-2 lead. Keegan Kavanaugh scored just over the half way mark of the final frame. At 12:18 saw Kavanaugh's twelfth goal of the season, and Amendola listed the lone helper.

The Jr. Flames finished the game 2-10 on the power play. Flint finished 2-8 on the man advantage.

David Jacobson earned his sixteenth win of the season, and his sixth in his past six starts.

The Quad City Jr. Flames will continue their three game home stand this upcoming weekend on Saturday, January 30 and Sunday, January 31 against Chicago. The puck drops at 7:00 pm ct. The Jr. Flames Pre Game Show begins at 6:40 pm with Mike Rieck.
