FIRE FACTS Can't Cool the Fires! This past weekend the Quad City Jr. Flames completed their seventh and eighth straight victories. The Jr. Flames beat Peoria 5-2 on Friday, January 22, and notched a 7-2 win against Flint on Sunday, January 24. Quad City is now three games above .500. Flying Hats In Sunday's 7-2 victory against Flint two Flames forwards posted hat-tricks. R.J. Rick scored two goals in the first period and one in the second. The hat-trick was Rick's second in two seasons with the Flames. Andy Amendola managed to tuck the puck home once in each period for his first hat-trick with Quad City. Point Streaks Keegan Kavanuagh and Andy Amendola continue to add to their point totals. Both forwards are currently on five game point streaks. Amendola has posted six goals and five helpers for 11 points. Kavanaugh scored five goals and added five assists for 10 points. Playoff Picture The Quad City Jr. Flames find themselves in sole possesion of seventh place with 41 points in the CSHL Standings. Behind Quad City in eighth is Chicago (35 points) who has three games in hand on Quad City. The Jr. Flames are looking up at Toledo and Queen City who are within five points of Quad City. The three squads all find themselves sitting at the 38 game mark with 10 matchups remaining. Stopping Pucks David Jacobson tallied his 15th and 16th wins of the season this past weekend. David Jacobson has been victorious in his past six starts for Quad City. SCOUTING REPORT Chicago Force (16-16-2-1) This weekend will mark the first meetings between Quad City and Chicago. Chicago has dropped their past three games, and are 3-3-0-0 in the month of January. On Friday, January 15 the Force were downed 7-4 to Cleveland. On Saturday, January 23 in Chicago the Force where edged 4-2 against St. Louis, and on the following day they lost 4-0 to St. Louis. After, dropping their past three games Chicago is now six points behind Quad City in the playoff race. The Force sit in the eighth and final playoff spot with 35 points while Quad City is in seventh with 41 points. Chicago does have three games in hand on Quad City. Chicago's Louis Educate still holds the league lead in goals with 38, but has not found the back of the net in three games. Educate is fourth in league points, but has only posted two assists in three games. Chicago will be coming in to the weekend looking at three games. Friday night they play Peoria in Chicago before heading to Quad City for two consecutive games. Sunday, March 7, Parents'/Family Day Dubuque vs. Quad City 12:00 pm ct The Quad City Junior hockey organiztion will be dedicating Sunday, March 7 to all of the Flames parents and housing families at the Quad City Sports Center. Immediately before the game the Jr. Flames will recognize all the parents and housing families. Flames parents and families are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game time.
